Principle photography on the Water Police oriented action drama The Wateries commences on the Gold Coast tomorrow. Filming activities will be seen around the Broadwater, Seaway, northern river systems and some foreshore areas.
Gold Coast residents are advised that they will see police cast and props inclusive of police branding, police lights and siren systems in operation at filming locations throughout the week.
Our Police vessels have two distinct points of difference:
- Our vessels feature red and blue light, QPS vessels feature only blue lights;
- Our vessels are branded “WATER POLICE”, QPS vessels feature the single word “POLICE”.
This production is enabled by a unique Deed of Agreement between the production company and the State of Queensland, authorised by the Queensland Police Commissioner. Its production and associated activities would otherwise be illegal.
Weather permitting, the highest profile day of filming this week will be Tuesday, during which the RACQ Careflight Rescue Helicopter will be utilising our realistic production scenarios as the basis for two highly realistic simulated rescue activities. This will fall back to Wednesday or Thursday should the helicopter be tasked with a real mission, or should the weather be adverse..
Proposed Offshore filming has been cancelled due to the forecast potentially dangerous offshore conditions.
