About The Wateries

The Wateries is a reality style water police oriented action drama.

Inspired by true events, The Wateries explores the world of the Water Police Officer set against the magnificent backdrop of the Gold Coast and its surrounding waterways.

Wateries - as Water Police are often referred to within their own ranks - are a unique breed of police officer, called to deal with everything from boating accidents and shark attacks, through to floating bodies and high stake rescues.

Their job is sometimes not a particularly pretty one, but it’s one in which they’re immensely proud, and deservedly so, as one of the most professional operations within the police service.

Essentially, The Wateries is a reality style police action drama, set around a group of Gold Coast Water Police Officer’s, with a unique focus on realism. The storylines are based around real events, and will provide viewers with a thrilling insight into their activities.

The production provides a valuable conduit in which to highlight the often unseen activities of Water Police, while at the same time providing an innovative medium in which to highlight boating and public safety related issues.

Production realism is further enhanced through unique incorporation and interaction with professional bodies, such as the RACQ CareFlight Rescue Helicopter and its professional crew - click here for more information.

This production is enabled by a unique Deed of Agreement between our production company and the State of Queensland, signed by the Queensland Police Commissioner. Its production and associated activities would otherwise be illegal.

Production of The Wateries officially commences on 1 December 2009, however principle photography will not commence until 6 February 2010.
